Traditional portable laptop computers work fine in an office setting, but they deliver less than stellar performance when wireless signal strength is low. In a vehicle environment, signal strength, like everything else, is changing from moment to moment. Some devices in and around the vehicle can connect to the laptop, usually via USB.
This approach has some benefitābut, as Information Technology (IT) teams and field workers have discovered, laptops are not designed to be routers for other devices, and using them this way can be fraught with challenges.
